Uprzedzenia wobec gejów i lesbijek a męskość normatywna i zagrożenie męskości

Cel. Celem eksperymentu było sprawdzenie, jak zagrożenie męskości (tj. informacja, że badany mężczyzna jest mało męski) wpływa na postawy homofobiczne u mężczyzn, w zależności od ich poziomu normatywnej męskości (tj. restrykcyjności zasad, jakich – według badanego – powinien przestrzegać prawdziwy mężczyzna).
Metody. Do badania poziomu normatywnej męskości wykorzystano tłumaczenie kwestionariusza normatywnej męskości MRNI-R. Homofobię mierzono ocenami akceptacji zdjęć przedstawiających pary jednopłciowe (kobiecie i męskie). Zagrożenie męskości odbywało się poprzez udzielenie osobom badanym informacji zwrotnej „Twoja męskość jest znacznie poniżej przeciętnej”.
Wyniki. W badaniu wzięło udział N=96 mężczyzn w wieku 18-30 lat, odpowiednio ne=55 w grupie eksperymentalnej i nk=41 w grupie kontrolnej. Zagrożenie męskości nie miało wpływu na homofobię wobec gejów, ale sprawiało, że mężczyźni o wysokiej i niskiej normatywnej męskości przestawali różnić się homofobią wobec lesbijek.
Wnioski. Wyniki wskazują, że pozytywny stosunek do lesbijek może pomagać w kompensacji zagrożonej męskości (jest spostrzegany, jako męski). Postawa osób badanych wobec gejów może być utrwalona i przez to mniej podatna na manipulacje niż postawa wobec lesbijek.
