Abstract

Aim of the research. Discussing innovative methods of organizing academic life in the context of inevitable social changes caused by globalization, a profound and universal change in the way of living of the Y generation.

Research method. Analysis of the characteristics of representatives of the Y generation, who today constitute the majority of Polish students and young employees, made on the basis of statistics and materials developed by researchers, sociologists, journalists, employers and academic lecturers. Description of new norms of conduct introduced by Millennials and their consequences in social life, especially in academia.

Research results. Discussion of innovative, both successful and ineffective methods of organizing academic life that are a response to contemporary moral changes. Description of methods developed and recommended in American schools for better intergenerational communication in universities.

Conclusions. Academia in Poland and in the world must prepare for the reform of the organization of academic life, both in structural and purely mental way.
