VALUES IN THE UPBRINGING OF PRESCHOOL - AGED CHILDREN. SELECTED AXIOLOGICAL CONTEXTS.

Aim. The aim of this article is to reconstruct the significance of values as a fundamental category in the education of preschool-aged children and to present the preschool as a space where axiological experiences are formed in the context of everyday educational life.
Method. This article is theoretical and analytical in nature and is based on a critical analysis of pedagogical, psychological, and philosophical literature concerning the issues of values, values education, and children’s moral development. The discussion draws on classical axiological concepts as well as contemporary approaches to preschool education as a context of meaning.
Results. The analysis indicates that the process of internalizing values is dynamic and relational in nature; it takes place through a child’s daily social experiences, and the effectiveness of values education depends on the quality of the educational environment and the way educational experiences are organized.
Conclusions. Values education in preschool requires a shift away from a transmissive model toward an experiential approach, in which the child is treated as an active co-creator of axiological meanings. The implication for pedagogical practice is the need to consciously design educational situations that foster reflection on values and the experience of those values in action.
