Abstract

Thesis. The main goal of the article is to present and analysie how phenomenon of
insanity is featured in the popculture.
Discussed concepts. I distinguished the two frequent manners of picturing insanity
in the popculture: understanding insanity as a social maladjustment and social
exclussion. I indicated that video games are, and should be, important goal of studies.
Moreover, I distincted terms: „mentally ill” and „insane”.
Conclussions. There are no obvious criterias that allow to tell what the theme of
insanity in the popculture is. However, it is possible to extract the most frequent ones.
Video games are important and thriving medium in which the topic of insanity is
strongly present.
